Cardiologist Dr. Muhittin Özkor
Enfield Council organised an event to promote the harms of smoking, with a day of conferences with a high level of participation.
“TURKEY FAILS TO QUALIFY HEALTHY LIVING”
Cardiologist Dr. Muhittin Özkor, pointed many significant aspects for smokers for them know what they are getting themselves into by smoking. Özkor, said “Turkey unfortunately leads on the graphics of smoker countries. When look back at the 1970s when United Kingdom had been on the leading countries of smokers, now it has reversed itself to the bottom of the list. We believe same can be done with Turkey and Turkish speaking communities”.
“SMOKING KILLS SEXUAL LIFE”
Dr. Özkor also stated that smoking kills sexual drive and activeness, by temporarily deceiving individuals that smoking could be a “fun addition” to relax after/before sexual intercourse. However, studies show that In males, sexual arousal has to do with the blood flow to the genital region. This is how errection or hardening of penis is achieved. But, as a person continues to smoke one pack after another over many years, he fails to achieve required rush of blood flow to the penis, resulting in erectile dysfunction. Nicotine also clogs arteries with fatty acids, restricting blood flow to genital region. This can even result in improper lubrication of vulva regions in females making sexual intercourse a difficult process. Those who claim smoking a cigarette before sexual intercourse can enhance your sexual potential are but deluded souls. Smoking can cause a variety of sex related problems in women including early menopause, increase in chances of cervical cancer, menstrual irregularities and probability of stroke or heart attack. In case you are already consuming contraceptive pills, smoking can be double worse for you. Cigarettes plus oral contraceptives is a deadly combo. Cigarette smoking can damage your fallopian tube, causing blockage, which can prevent sperm from meeting egg. There are also cases of miscarriages reported along with damage to developing fetus.
“SISHA IS WAY DANGEREOUS THAN CIGARETTES”
Dr. Özkor criticized the commonness of sisha consumerism, stating that a single sisha is 200 times heavier and harmful than cigarettes.
What should families do?
Another speaker at the event, Dr. Sirri, stated that families play a crucial role in teaching their kids more on the harms of smoking and keeping them away from the “trend”.
