The news comes as a man is bailed following arrest on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter and allowing a premises to be used for the production of class B drugs.

Two other men, aged 29 and 28, are still fighting for their lives a week on from the explosion and fire in a second-floor flat in Wicklow House on the Stamford Hill Estate, which broke out just after 2.30pm last Wednesday.

The men are now being treated at specialist burns units in Essex and Sussex.

Mr Greatrix was taken to hospital with burns, and later transferred to a specialist unit in Essex, but died eight hours later at 10.30pm.

A fourth man, 28, who was also injured, was discharged from a central London hospital the following day.

The arrested man has been bailed until next month.

Neighbours were evacuated and put up in emergency accommodation overnight following the fire. Roads were closed off as 21 fire fighters battled the blaze.

A witness told the Gazette: “Someone apparently jumped out with burns before I arrived. Somebody said his clothes were in flames.”

Det Insp Paul Ridley said: “An investigation has been launched to establish the circumstances of this incident. I am asking anyone who can provide any further information, or who witnessed the explosion or the immediate aftermath to contact my investigation team.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Hackney CID on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
