A WOMAN whose cyclist husband was killed by a truck in Dalston in 2006, is in line for a compensation payout, a judge has ruled.

According to a report in the Hackney Gazette, Songul Yildirim was made a widow after husband Mustafa died under the wheels of a truck in May 2006 in Kingsland High Street while trying to weave his way along slow moving traffic.

Judge Seys-Llewellyn QC said he was persuaded “by the narrowest possible margin” that Mr Yildirim was not entirely responsible for his death.

The truck driver, Aaron Kossick, must bear 25 per cent of the blame, according to the judge. He added that had Mr Kossick looked more carefully in his rear-view mirror, he would have seen the cyclist.

The judge’s decision means that Mrs Yildirim and daughter Acelya are entitled to compensation.
